Brief history on DKP and how we handle it at WoC

What is DKP?

DKP, short for Dragon Kill Points, is a concept originally created by Thott of Afterlife, at a time where the only two raid targets in Everquest were two dragons, Lady Vox and Lord Nagafen. These points are awarded to each guild member as they attend a guild raid. The current DKP of each member reflects his or her priority for loot. When a member "wins" an item, they lose a DKP amount that reflects the value of that item.

DKP allows for an unbiased comparison between guild members when decisions about loot are to be made based on attendance and recent items that have been awarded.


How is DKP determined?

DKP is determined based on the stats of the item and a calculation of that together with the itemlevel. It;s done by several programs, the add-on we use is HoB_DKP.
All Tier 4 tokens are 40 DKP.
All Tier 5 tokens are 50 DKP.



How do you earn DKP in WoC?

By attending raids as much as possible since we give everyone as much as possible a chance to raid. In Karazhan the following bosskills are awarded 10 DKP : Animal-Attuman-Moroes-Maiden-Opera-Curator-Chess.
And the following bosskills 15 DKP : Illhoof-Aran-Netherspite-Prince. Bosskills in Gruul : Maulgar 20 DKP & Gruul 25 DKP. Magtheridon 25 DKP.

Karazhan , Gruul's and Magh share the same DKP table since all Tier 4 drops there. For later raids where Tier 5 drop a new table will be started where everyone's latest T4 Results get divided through 100 which will narrow everyone within 10 DKP range of eachother but helps to sort out who gets loot on the first runs.

How do you spend DKP in WoC?

Just be in raid when an epic drops , the people that need it (might there be more then 1 , compare their DKP) one with the highest gets it.
The amount an item costs, will be substracted from the person who got the item. In that way everyone attending raids regularly will be having plenty of possibilities to upgrade their gear.

In a case where more then 1 has the same amount of DKP, a bidding starts off. That means the persons with the same dkp amount can bid to the item. The person who bids the most for the item in open raidchat (vent) is allowed to have it. (persons who need as well except fro the highest persons CAN'T bid , only the highest with the same amount)


So is that all?

No it isn't. Since Wow is a living game things are changed regularly.
So it might occur we have to imply new rules. This will be done only by approval of all officers, and those changes will be found here then immediately.
